The Ultimate Bathroom Care Guide

Congrats on finishing your bathroom remodel, we hope your Home Bathroomware products are looking beautiful! In this blog, we are going to share our top bathroom care and cleaning tips to help you get years longer out of your bathroom.

Let’s start with bathroom ventilation. This is the most important thing to get right when it comes to bathroom care. Good ventilation will not only save you thousands of dollars by making your products last longer, but it will also keep you and your family healthy.

    How to achieve good ventilation

A lot of people don’t even realise they may not have sufficient bathroom ventilation. The signs are simple, after a shower the mirror is usually the first thing to steam up or the tiled walls are wet. If this is happening, over time this will cause black spotting or corrosion to the mirror which can’t be reversed.

It will also cause swelling of cabinetry and paint might start flaking off on the ceiling.  Evidence of mould or mildew throughout the bathroom is also a clear indicator that ventilation in the space is not adequate plus it will smell damp, and no one likes that!

    Our top tips:

    • Run the fan every time water is being used in the bathroom.
    • Run it for around 15 minutes after you shower.
    • In addition to the exhaust fan, if you have a bathroom window, opening that daily (even in the chilly winter months) in addition to using the exhaust fan will help to keep your bathroom fresh and mould-free.

    How to clean your vanity

To maintain the finish on your bathroom vanity and sink, we recommend using only a soft cloth and weak solution of all-purpose non-abrasive cleaner to wipe down all the surfaces of the vanity including the countertop and sink.

All our vanities are made from moisture-resistant MDF (medium-density fibre) board which is not waterproof. Be sure to always dry any excessive water and wipe away any chemical or makeup spills immediately to avoid staining or further damage.

    How to clean your sink

To maintain the finish on your sink, we recommend using only a soft cloth and weak solution of all-purpose non-abrasive cleaner to wipe down the surfaces. We always recommend wiping away make-up or chemical spills immediately to avoid staining.

    How to clean your mirror

When it comes to cleaning your mirrors, please do not use Windex or any other ammonia or acid-based cleaning products as this can damage the silvered backing of the mirror.

We suggest using a slightly moistened microfibre cloth to remove dry dirt or grime, then simply buff clean with a dry microfibre cloth, leaving it clean and streak-free!
